Kylie Ger is a soon-to-be elementary school teacher living in California. She loves the outdoors, especially wakesurfing at the lake and spending time at the beach. A puzzle fanatic, she can finish a five-hundred-piece puzzle in just a few hours! Kylie shares her home with Mortoise, a curious tortoise, and Aspen, a playful husky-shepherd mix. Her inspiration for writing Mortoise the Runaway Tortoise came from Mortoise’s backyard adventures-climbing fences, chasing Aspen, and always trying to escape. His antics have brought her endless laughter and now spark her storytelling.

Q: Was your main character modeled after anyone in your life?

A: I think that writing is a developed skill that begins at a very young age.
