The Remarkable Wanderings of Ryker and Rhett: Watch Out, World!

Kraig Olson spent years mastering the intricate language of health care revenue cycle management, only to be humbled by a four-year-old who refuses to pronounce the letter R.

A proud graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College (where he double majored in English and management) and the University of St. Thomas (where he earned an MBA in health care), Kraig is well versed in complex systems. He serves on local boards and is an active member of local health care professional organizations. But while his professional life is spent solving high-level revenue puzzles, his “overtime” is spent in the trenches of youth athletics and domestic chaos.

The inspiration for this series came from the realization that his most difficult coaching assignment wasn’t on the ball field—it was at the dinner table, helping his three sons navigate the phonetic bridge between a “wock” and a “rock.” With three boys (ages nine, eight, and four) and a thirteen-week-old puppy named Kash, his home is a living laboratory for speech development, heavy on the W and occasionally light on the R.

When he isn’t navigating health care strategy or chasing a golden retriever, Kraig is a devoted husband to Kristina, an avid golfer, and a writer who believes that every child deserves to find their voice—even if it takes a little extra practice to get the R right.
