You Can Be a Shelter Helper

Publishing August 11, 2026 | Hardcover & Paperback | 30 pages

No matter where you live, no matter who you are, if you love dogs like Ella, your local animal shelter needs YOU!

Ella loves all kinds of dogs—big dogs, small dogs, fluffy dogs, short-haired dogs—but her absolute favorite dogs are shelter dogs. She spends her free time volunteering at her local animal shelter, where she helps at adoption events, makes yummy enrichment treats for the pups, and takes them out on the town. And guess what? YOU can do this too!

You Can Be a Shelter Helper celebrates children’s love for animals and shows how even the youngest among us can make a difference through volunteering. This thoughtful picture book blends storytelling with hands-on ideas for service, empowering children to see themselves as capable helpers and use their passion for the greater good.
